I have my own back…. In all ways, always.
There use to be a time where saying that was uncomfortable.
For so long, I wanted to be considered. I didn’t realize that I could consider me.
So, what does “I have my own back” mean?
In short, what it means is I choose me.
I enjoy my own comapany.
I approve of and validate myself.
I take responsibility in the way I think, what I do, and how I feel.
I also say no to what doesn’t serve me.
Having my back means setting healthy boundaries for myself and others, and it also means maintaining them.
I don’t make no’s mean anything about me because I believe God is always looking out for me.
You Are Your First Best Friend
We usually outsource certain things to others like showing up for ourselves, or determining how worthy we are of things. The truth of the matter is, it’s up to you to show up for you. Your worth is already predetermined and no one else can decide or gets a say in the matter.
The same way we show up for our best friend is the same way I’m suggesting you show up for yourself.
Things You Can Do To Have Your Own Back:
Say no. Yes, it will be uncomfortable in the beginning, and no, people won’t like it, but those that matter will appreciate the strait forwardness.
Learn to just BE. You don’t have to be on all the time. Often times, we’re tired, but we keep going going going because we think we’re expected to. It is ok to recognize when you need space and taking the time to yourself to rest.
Buy that thing you keep putting off. Yes, you deserve it. And yes, it is ok to treat yourself to something outside your financial norm.
Let go of the try hard life. You don’t have to prove yourself to anyone.
Having your own back is an expression of self-love.
When you love yourself, your ability to love others increases. It’s a win win!
